Untitled (strings)

Just playing around with some recorded material I found of a string quartet; I've uploaded it onto my Dance collection. Some really wonderful sounds coming out of it.

Real raw jam jam

This afternoon I met with a raw food culinary artist to discuss how improvised music and improvised food can go together! We're gonna have a jam next week. Not, jam jam, I mean like an improvisation jam. Though who knows, maybe there will be a real jam involved! Raw jam. A real raw jam jam. Maybe that could be the name of the project!

Thank you, Omar for teaching us and for pulling my talent out. You have made me feel like I'm a musician. You make me want to write a million songs. In my head I have so many ideas jumping in my head. I want to express my music. I feel like I am in wonderland. I have never ever been more happy in my life. To me the world is a wonderful place, like I'm a song writer. You have made my eyes open, made me see the world and become a superstar. Music is my talent. I love my talent. This is the best talent ever that I have ever had. I hope when you teach others they will feel the same as I do.

Dublin! Here I come!

Actually I've been in Dublin for 2 weeks now, but things are going grand. Soon I'll even be picking up the accent!

I'm spending my time doing 3 things: composing, improving my sight reading, and arranging music for Ballet Ireland.

I love it! I love sound! Please, Genie, make this my job!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be! Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people wont feel insecure around you. We are born to manifest the glory within us. It is not just some of us. Its in everyone and as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear our presence automatically liberates others.

The essence of Buddhism lies in developing oneself through one's own determination and tenacious effort - not by depending on anyone or anything else. We need to have the spirit to stand on our own initiative without relying on anyone. We don't need others' sympathy or sentimentality. We have to stand up and advance, even if there is no one to encourage us. We resolutely and cheerfully take responsibility to change ourselves, our surroundings, society and the land where we live. That is the principle of three thousand realms in a single moment of life. What Buddhism teaches is not abstract theory; it is not a weak-kneed way of life constantly clinging to something for support. At the same time, neither is it to be confused with the egoism to arrogantly suppose, "I alone am correct and respectworthy." To believe in the great life force within oneself is at once to believe in the great life force existing within all people. Buddhism teaches that we should treasure the lives of others just as highly as we treasure our own.

Daisaku Ikeda

Only with open space created by dialogue, whether conducted with our neighbours, with history, with nature or the cosmos, can human wholeness be sustained. We are not born human in any but a biological sense; we can only learn to know ourselves and others, and thus be trained in the ways of human being. We do this by immersion in the ocean of language and dialogue fed by the springs of cultural tradition.
